CauseTrail Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CauseTrail, a website monitoring and intelligence service operated by AndyBZ Creative, a business registered in the State of Florida, United States.
These Terms apply to CauseTrail.io, the CauseTrail application, WordPress connectors, monitoring services, APIs, alerts, artificial intelligence features, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By creating a CauseTrail account, purchasing a subscription, connecting a website, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
If you use CauseTrail on behalf of a company, client, or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
1. The CauseTrail Service
CauseTrail provides website monitoring and intelligence tools designed to help users identify, organize, understand, and investigate technical, operational, performance, traffic, and security-related website activity.
Features may include:
- Website health monitoring
- WordPress monitoring
- Error detection
- Error grouping
- Issue tracking
- Security-event monitoring
- Bot and traffic analysis
- Website change tracking
- Performance monitoring
- Uptime monitoring
- Notifications
- AI-assisted analysis
- Issue prioritization
- Historical analysis
- Probable-cause analysis
- Diagnostic information
- Recommendations
CauseTrail is under active development.
Available features may change over time.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating a CauseTrail account.
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials
- Maintaining appropriate security for your account
- Activity performed through your account
- Keeping your account information reasonably current
CauseTrail should be notified promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. Authority to Monitor Websites
You may connect a website to CauseTrail only if:
- You own the website;
- You manage the website with the owner's authorization; or
- You otherwise have sufficient authority to monitor the website and permit CauseTrail to process associated technical information.
By connecting a website to CauseTrail, you represent and warrant that:
- You have authority to install or authorize the CauseTrail connector;
- You have authority to permit CauseTrail to process monitoring information generated by the website;
- Your monitoring of the website complies with applicable laws and contractual obligations;
- You have provided any disclosures required to website visitors; and
- You have obtained any permissions or consents required by applicable law.
You may not use CauseTrail to monitor websites, servers, systems, accounts, or infrastructure without authorization.
4. CauseTrail Connector
Certain functionality requires installation or use of a CauseTrail WordPress plugin, connector, agent, or similar software.
By connecting a website, you authorize CauseTrail's software to collect and transmit technical information reasonably necessary to provide the Service.
CauseTrail's connector is not intended to require storage of your WordPress administrator password or database password by CauseTrail.
You remain responsible for maintaining appropriate website backups, security practices, access controls, and recovery procedures.
5. Subscriptions and Billing
CauseTrail may offer Free and paid subscription plans.
Current pricing, plan limits, and included features are displayed on CauseTrail.io or within the CauseTrail application.
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance according to the billing interval selected during checkout.
Unless canceled, paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period.
CauseTrail uses Stripe to process payments and manage subscriptions.
By purchasing a recurring subscription, you authorize CauseTrail and Stripe to charge the applicable subscription fees and taxes to your selected payment method on a recurring basis until cancellation.
CauseTrail does not directly store complete payment card numbers.
6. Cancellation
You may cancel a paid CauseTrail subscription at any time through available billing-management functionality or another cancellation method provided by CauseTrail.
Cancellation prevents future subscription renewals.
Unless otherwise stated, paid access will continue through the end of the billing period already paid for.
When paid access expires, your account may revert to the applicable Free plan and become subject to Free-plan limitations.
Cancellation does not necessarily cause immediate deletion of account or monitoring data.
CauseTrail's Privacy Policy and applicable data-retention practices govern deletion and retention.
7. Refunds
Subscription payments are subject to the CauseTrail Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Except where required by applicable law or otherwise provided under that policy, subscription charges are generally non-refundable once the applicable billing period has begun.
8. Plan Limits
CauseTrail subscription plans may impose limits relating to:
- Number of connected websites
- Monitoring functionality
- Data retention
- AI analysis
- Notifications
- Monitoring frequency
- Historical data
- Available features
CauseTrail may enforce plan limitations automatically.
Attempting to intentionally circumvent subscription limits or technical restrictions is prohibited.
9. Acceptable Use
You may not use CauseTrail to:
- Monitor systems without authorization
- Access systems without authorization
- Conduct unlawful surveillance
- Attack or disrupt websites or systems
- Distribute malware
- Facilitate unauthorized access
- Abuse CauseTrail APIs or infrastructure
- Circumvent security controls
- Circumvent subscription restrictions
- Interfere with other CauseTrail customers
- Probe or test CauseTrail infrastructure without authorization
- Reverse engineer protected portions of the Service except where legally permitted
- Violate another person's privacy or intellectual-property rights
- Engage in fraudulent activity
- Use the Service for unlawful purposes
CauseTrail may suspend or restrict accounts reasonably believed to be involved in fraudulent, abusive, unlawful, or security-threatening activity.
10. Monitoring Limitations
CauseTrail is intended to assist with website monitoring, diagnostics, and operational awareness.
CauseTrail does not guarantee that it will:
- Detect every website error
- Detect every security incident
- Detect every attack
- Detect every vulnerability
- Detect every instance of malware
- Correctly identify every bot or visitor
- Identify the cause of every problem
- Prevent website downtime
- Prevent compromise
- Prevent data loss
- Detect every website change
- Deliver every notification immediately
- Keep a monitored website continuously available
- Accurately determine the business impact of every event
A website being identified by CauseTrail as "Healthy," "Secure," "Normal," or using similar terminology does not constitute a guarantee that the website is free from defects, vulnerabilities, malware, compromise, security incidents, performance problems, or other issues.
CauseTrail should be used as one component of a broader website maintenance, monitoring, backup, and security strategy.
11. Artificial Intelligence
CauseTrail may use artificial intelligence to:
- Summarize technical information
- Translate technical information into plain language
- Classify issues
- Identify patterns
- Correlate events
- Suggest probable causes
- Prioritize issues
- Recommend troubleshooting actions
- Generate suggested fixes
CauseTrail currently uses the OpenAI API to provide certain AI-powered functionality.
Artificial intelligence can produce inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or incorrect results.
AI-generated explanations, probable causes, correlations, severity assessments, recommendations, or suggested fixes are not guaranteed to be accurate.
Users remain responsible for evaluating relevant technical evidence before taking consequential action.
12. Suggested and Automated Actions
CauseTrail may offer troubleshooting recommendations, suggested remediation, generated code, suggested configuration changes, or automated functionality.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the user remains responsible for deciding whether to implement any recommended action.
Users should maintain appropriate backups and recovery procedures before modifying production websites.
CauseTrail is not responsible for damage caused by changes independently implemented by a user based solely on a CauseTrail recommendation, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
13. Customer Data
You retain ownership of information and content you provide to CauseTrail.
You grant CauseTrail the limited rights necessary to:
- Receive
- Host
- Store
- Process
- Analyze
- Organize
- Transmit
- Display
such information as reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure, support, and improve the Service in accordance with these Terms and the CauseTrail Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights and permissions necessary to provide such information to CauseTrail.
14. Data Retention
CauseTrail generally retains website monitoring and diagnostic data for up to 60 days, subject to the exceptions and additional provisions described in the CauseTrail Privacy Policy.
CauseTrail may modify retention periods as the Service develops.
15. CauseTrail Intellectual Property
CauseTrail and its associated:
- Software
- Source code
- Interfaces
- Designs
- Branding
- Logos
- Algorithms
- Monitoring systems
- Documentation
- Content
- Trademarks
- Product concepts
- Related intellectual property
are owned by AndyBZ Creative, CauseTrail, or applicable licensors.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of CauseTrail intellectual property to users.
Subject to these Terms, CauseTrail grants users a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose during their authorized use of CauseTrail.
16. Feedback
If you voluntarily provide ideas, suggestions, feature requests, feedback, or recommendations concerning CauseTrail, you authorize CauseTrail to use that feedback without restriction or compensation.
This provision does not transfer ownership of your website data, confidential information, or other proprietary customer materials to CauseTrail.
17. Third-Party Services
CauseTrail may rely on or integrate with third-party services.
Current providers include services from:
- Hetzner
- OpenAI
- Stripe
CauseTrail may use additional infrastructure, email, analytics, security, customer-support, or other service providers as the Service develops.
CauseTrail is not responsible for failures caused solely by third-party services outside CauseTrail's reasonable control.
Use of third-party services may also be subject to those providers' applicable terms and privacy practices.
18. Availability and Changes
CauseTrail is under active development.
Features may be:
- Added
- Modified
- Replaced
- Restricted
- Redesigned
- Discontinued
CauseTrail may temporarily suspend or limit access because of:
- Maintenance
- Security concerns
- Infrastructure changes
- Technical problems
- Abuse
- Circumstances outside CauseTrail's reasonable control
CauseTrail does not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
19. Beta and Experimental Features
CauseTrail may designate functionality as:
- Beta
- Preview
- Experimental
- Early Access
- Similar pre-release terminology
Such features may change, fail, produce inaccurate results, or be discontinued.
Experimental features should not be relied upon as the sole mechanism protecting a production website or business operation.
20. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CAUSETRAIL IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE."
CAUSETRAIL DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
CAUSETRAIL DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, COMPLETELY SECURE, OR CAPABLE OF DETECTING EVERY TECHNICAL, PERFORMANCE, AVAILABILITY, OR SECURITY ISSUE.
21. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CAUSETRAIL, ANDYBZ CREATIVE, AND THEIR OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AFFILIATES, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE.
THIS INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION:
- LOST PROFITS
- LOST REVENUE
- LOST DATA
- BUSINESS INTERRUPTION
- LOSS OF GOODWILL
- WEBSITE DOWNTIME
- LOST SALES
- SECURITY INCIDENTS
- COSTS OF REPLACEMENT SERVICES
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF CAUSETRAIL AND ANDYBZ CREATIVE ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY THE APPLICABLE USER TO CAUSETRAIL DURING THE TWELVE MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not permit certain exclusions or limitations of liability. In those jurisdictions, these provisions apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.
22. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CauseTrail, AndyBZ Creative, and their owners, employees, contractors, and affiliates from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses arising from:
- Your unlawful use of CauseTrail
- Monitoring a website without appropriate authorization
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of applicable law
- Your violation of another person's rights
- Data you provide to CauseTrail without required authority or permission
23. Suspension and Termination
CauseTrail may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of:
- Violation of these Terms
- Fraud
- Abuse
- Security threats
- Nonpayment
- Illegal activity
- Unauthorized monitoring
- Material risk to CauseTrail or other users
Users may stop using CauseTrail and cancel paid subscriptions at any time.
24. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any additional venue, arbitration, dispute-resolution, or class-action provisions should be finalized following appropriate legal review.
25. Changes to These Terms
CauseTrail may update these Terms as the Service develops.
Material changes may be communicated through:
- CauseTrail
- Website notice
- Another reasonable method
The "Last Updated" date indicates the most recent version.
Continued use following the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance where permitted by applicable law.
